Dear
Friends,
Your
donation to our Annual
Appeal is as crucial
to us as it has ever
been. As we hear about and have felt cuts in funding from federal,
state and local sources,
I realize how important
your gift this year
will be to WARM and its mission to homeless
men, women, and
children.
At the
same time, WARM
has been blessed
with $2.2
million to move
forward on our
HUD 811 housing
project and Anita’s Kitchen.
Soon, we will
be tearing down
the building
at 54 Spruce
St. and replacing
it with a two-story
building. The
second floor
will be six apartments
for the disabled.
The first floor
will be administrative space, Attire
For Hire and
Anita’s Kitchen. It has
been a long process
getting to
this point and
I thank the many
people who encouraged
and who were
supportive of
our vision.
The challenge is not over for us as the 19 bed homeless shelter
(located next to the new building) is in dire need of renovations.
WARM has decided to meet this challenge head on. Presently we
are researching funding sources and hope within the next few
months to move this project forward so that the WARM Center
can meet the needs of the ever increasing number of men, women
and children at our door.
New buildings and renovation projects are the exciting news
at WARM but the 9 programs that touch the most needy among us
need your support through our Annual Appeal. Your generosity
over the last 25 years has allowed us to give a hand-up to many
in the greater Westerly area. You can help us again by being
as generous as your budget allows so that WARM can continue
to give a hand-up to your friends and neighbors in need.
Thank you,
The Rev. Jean Barry
Executive Director
P.S. This December we will be celebrating 25 years of helping
those in need in the greater Westerly Area. Please contribute
to our Annual Appeal as we build, renovate and serve our friends
and neighbors for the next 25 years.
